Executive Summary
To support the rapid growth of archival storage demand, a leading global information management company developed a large-scale archive facility in Singapore for the centralized storage of magnetic tapes and paper-based document archives.
Within an existing warehouse footprint, our team engineered and delivered a dual-system storage solution combining a Compact Mobile Shelving System and Heavy-Duty Long Span Shelving. The completed project provides storage capacity for over 290,000 magnetic tapes and 12,913 document cartons, significantly maximizing storage density without expanding the building. Throughout the installation, strict site protection procedures ensured a zero-damage delivery, preserving all existing warehouse infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.

Project Background
As organizations across financial services, healthcare, legal services, government agencies, and enterprise sectors continue generating enormous volumes of physical records and backup media, efficient long-term archive management has become increasingly important.
To strengthen its regional storage capability, the client established a centralized archive facility in Singapore capable of securely storing both magnetic tape media and carton-based document records. The objective was to maximize storage capacity within the existing warehouse while maintaining operational efficiency, long-term reliability, and strict facility protection standards throughout installation.
Project Challenges
1. Maximizing Storage Capacity Within Existing Space
The warehouse needed to accommodate an expected inventory of up to 500,000 magnetic tapes together with thousands of document cartons. Since expanding the building was not an option, every square meter had to be optimized to achieve the highest possible storage density.
2. One Facility, Two Different Storage Requirements
Magnetic tapes and archive cartons require completely different storage environments.
Tape media demands compact, high-density shelving with efficient aisle management, while carton archives require robust long-span shelving capable of supporting heavier loads with convenient manual access. Designing one integrated facility to accommodate both storage systems required careful engineering and space planning.
3. Zero-Damage Installation in a Completed Warehouse
The project was carried out inside a finished warehouse equipped with completed flooring, walls, HVAC systems, fire protection facilities, and other permanent infrastructure. Every stage of installation had to be carefully coordinated to avoid damage, contamination, or disruption to the client’s existing environment.
Our Solution
High-Density Compact Mobile Shelving for Magnetic Tape Storage
To maximize storage efficiency, we implemented a compact mobile shelving system that eliminates unnecessary fixed aisles by allowing shelving rows to move along floor-mounted tracks. Access aisles are created only where needed, dramatically increasing storage density while maintaining convenient retrieval of archive media.
The system ultimately provides storage for more than 290,000 magnetic tapes, making full use of the available warehouse footprint without requiring any building expansion.
Heavy-Duty Long Span Shelving for Document Archives
For carton-based document storage, heavy-duty long span shelving was installed to provide durable, high-capacity storage with easy manual access.
Designed specifically for long-term archive management, the system delivers 12,913 carton storage positions, offering excellent load capacity, operational efficiency, and future scalability.
Optimized Warehouse Layout Engineering
Our engineering team carefully analyzed warehouse dimensions, traffic flow, load distribution, and storage requirements to create a highly efficient layout integrating two different storage systems within one facility.
The final design maximizes storage utilization while maintaining safe access for daily warehouse operations and archive management.
Precision Installation with Complete Site Protection
Throughout the installation process, comprehensive protection measures were implemented to safeguard existing warehouse facilities.
Protective floor coverings, edge protection, controlled material handling, and carefully sequenced installation procedures ensured that every component was installed accurately while maintaining a strict zero-damage standard from project commencement through final handover.
Project Results
The completed solution successfully transformed the warehouse into a high-capacity archive storage facility capable of supporting the client’s long-term records management strategy.
